Apple might be still damned if it does and damned if it doesn’t

For years, Apple has been held to a completely different than the rest of the tech industry. Whereas a company like Google can pursue and then shutter any number of ambitious “moonshots” and ultimately be applauded for their efforts, Apple is routinely criticized for not coming up with a device as revolutionary as the iPhone every 5 years. In a broad sense, Apple is forced to endure a level of criticism that no other tech company on the planet has to deal with.

To be fair, a good deal of the attention and scrutiny directed at Apple is not undeserved. After all, the company over the past few decades helped transform not one but three separate industries. That being the case, it’s only natural for expectations surrounding Apple to be a little bit higher than it is for others. But sometimes the critiques flowing in Apple’s direction become so ludicrous that we have to pause, take a step back, and point out just how absurd the tech press can become.

Recently, Apple executives, along with two Siri scientists, sat down for a fascinating interview with Steven Levy of Backchannel. The piece provided an incredible glimpse into some of the work Apple is doing in the field of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. For a company as notoriously secretive as Apple, the informative expose was a must-read for anyone who follows the company in particular or the tech industry at large. Not only was the piece informative from a technical perspective, it provided no shortage of details explaining how Apple’s ongoing work in AI has helped improve the overall iPhone user experience.
But in quick order, it didn’t take long for critics to start taking jabs at Apple for an ostensible PR piece that tech companies all across Silicon Valley routinely engage in. From Amazon and Microsoft to Google and Facebook, every major tech company you can think often make its top executives available for what are effectively “let us brag about our technology” features.

And that’s all great and entertaining, but when Apple does it, it’s because there’s a problem. In fact, in the wake of the aforementioned Backchannel piece, some people went so far as to either imply or outright state that Apple never engaged in this type of desperate PR when Steve Jobs was around. Yes, it’s 2016 and some people still can’t help but compare everything Apple does to what they think Apple would have done if Steve Jobs was still alive.
It’s pure nonsense, but Apple today still finds itself stuck in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” predicament.

To wit, here’s Owen Williams’ take.

It was actually one of the more substantive looks inside Apple we’ve seen in a long time.
And here's Om Malik yearns for the Apple of yore.

Curiously, Malik just a few weeks ago had this to say:
I was on Leo Laporte’s TWIT show yesterday and ended up going on a bit of a rant about Apple and “Planet of the Apps.” My view on “content” efforts like this is pretty simple. It is distracting, non-core to Apple and basically avoids the bigger challenges: how to add data and Internet DNA into a company that has managed to struggle with services. The App Store needs more smarts and better search, and it needs to take a contemporary, data-centric approach to surfacing apps. “Planet of the Apps” is just an old media-like thinking applied to “apps.” I might be the only one who feels that way, but the reality is that these kinds of efforts are really not good for Apple at a time when it is competing with Google, Amazon and Facebook.
So Apple comes in with a math-heavy piece where they detail some of the advanced AI things they’re implementing across the entirety of their software suite and Malik has a problem with that too?

Report : Apple is actually going to make an all-glass iPhone

Apple’s radical iPhone design you wanted this year isn’t happening. That much is abundantly clear. But Apple is working on a brand new iPhone for next year, multiple rumors have said, which makes plenty of sense considering that 2017 will mark the iPhone’s 10th anniversary, and Apple may want to celebrate it in style with a hot new iPhone launch.

A new report from Asia indicates that one of the changes coming to the iPhone concerns the chassis. Apple is reportedly dumping metal for glass next year for at least one iPhone version, and Foxconn is already working on parts that would meet Apple’s requirements.

The glass iPhone supposed to launch next year might also feature an AMOLED display, and could incorporate a metal frame. The design seems familiar because that’s exactly the kind of design Samsung has used for its recent Galaxy flagships. It’s unclear whether the 2017 iPhone would also have curved edges, but the AMOLED screen and glass chassis combo seems to indicate that would be the case.
“Foxconn has been trying glass chassis since last year,” a person familiar with the plans told Nikkei .

“It is only natural that Foxconn is trying to come up with glass chassis as the capabilities to provide more components will bolster its standing within the supply chain and help with more orders,” a second source noted.

Foxconn already makes a lot of money from its sales to Apple, topping 50% of revenue. The Chinese giant supplies a large number of metal casings for the iPhone phablets (iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 7), and the iPhone SE. It makes sense to hear that Foxconn is interested in making glass parts for the future iPhone as well.

Foxconn also wants to develop OLED displays for smartphones, though Samsung is expected to be the main suppliers of iPhone OLED screens next year.

Apple’s next wearable might not be a new Apple Watch

Apple is often advised to launch new products that will ensure the company’s future beyond the iPhone, but the company is yet to make any announcements.

The Apple Watch marks the latest new product entry for the company, a highly successful product that’s often downplayed in the media. Reports based on indirect evidence and Apple’s own statements suggest that the Apple car or VR – or both? – might be the company’s next big things.

But a fresh report out of Asia indicates Apple might launch a whole new product next year, one that’s not related to the car or VR industries. Instead, we’re looking at a new Apple Watch flavor that might not be included in the Apple Watch family because of its sophisticated health features.

The new wearable device might debut alongside next year’s iPhone, which is expected to be a special edition handset to celebrate Apple’s 10th anniversary of the iPhone.

According to the Economic Daily News , the device has been at least two years in the making, and it focuses on health. The unnamed personal gadget will “accurately collect users’ personal daily life including heart rate, pulse, blood sugar changes and other information,” according to the publication.

Developed by Jay Blahnik’s health team, the device is expected to “set off a new whirlwind” within the technology industry.

The wearable will feature 3D Touch support, which will play a major role in the new device. Furthermore, Macotakara suggests that Apple developed a “revolutionary idea” with the new product when it comes to its power supply.

Other details, however, aren’t available. Images of the device are also absent.
Apple is tapping suppliers at this time, looking to finalize the product for a 2017 launch. TSMC, Foxconn, TPK, Zhen Ding Technology, and others, are apparently going to produce parts for the device, and manufacture it for Apple.

Apple’s interest in healthcare is well-known. Even before the Apple Watch was launched, reports detailing the then-called iWatch suggested the gadget would have advanced powers when it comes to health data collection and monitoring. That didn’t quite happen, but Apple expanded its health products on the iPhone, where it launched various initiatives, including HealthKit, ResearchKit, and Care Kit, to complement the iPhone and Apple Watch.

A more advanced health device seems to be a natural progression for Apple. It’ll be interesting, however, to find out why this exciting new product can’t simply be a more advanced version of the Apple Watch.
Apple is expected to launch an Apple Watch 2 this year, alongside the iPhone 7.

Apple says they will finally pay hackers who discover critical software vulnerabilities

For a long while, Apple was seemingly the only top Silicon Valley company that didn’t make use of ‘bug bounty’ programs.

Whereas companies like Google, Microsoft and Facebook routinely doled out monetary awards to individuals or third-parties who found critical software bugs, Apple curiously remained on the sidelines .
Now, in 2016, Apple has finally decided to join the party.

At the Black Hat Conference in Las Vegas yesterday, Apple’s top security chief Ivan Krstic announced a new bug bounty program where Apple will pay handsome sums to anyone who manages to find and report major vulnerabilities in its software.

For now, the bug bounty program will primarily be an invite-only affair as Apple is concerned it might be overwhelmed by an avalanche of reports that might overshadow more serious vulnerabilities. Going forward, though, Apple will slowly open up the program to more people.

The current matrix of Apple’s bug bounty program looks like this:

==> Secure boot firmware components – Max payout of $200,000
==> Extraction of confidential material protected by the Secure Enclave Processor – Max payout of $100,000
==> Execution of arbitrary code with kernel privileges – Max payout of $50,000
==> Unauthorized access to iCloud account data on Apple servers – Max payout of $50,000
==> Access from a sandboxed process to user data outside of that sandbox – Max payout of $50,000

You’ll note that each successful bounty has a maximum payout as opposed to a guaranteed payout. Per TechCrunch , the final payout amount will be “based on several factors: the clarity of the vulnerability report; the novelty of the problem and the likelihood of user exposure; and the degree of user interaction necessary to exploit the vulnerability.”
Lastly, and in a very Apple-y move, recipients of an Apple bug bounty will have the option to hand over their winnings to charity, in which case Apple will match their donation 100%.

Iphone Sensor might be Fake - See a surprisingly long list of body parts will open a iPhone Touch ID sensor

What do your nose, the heel of your foot and left nipple all have in common? Well, according to this Reddit thread, they will all work on an Apple Touch ID sensor. The same can’t be said for right nipples, unfortunately.

Highly reputable Reddit source “ A_Gigantic_Potato ” published his
“comprehensive” list of different body parts that will work with a Touch ID sensor. For a part that was only meant to recognise fingerprints, it turns out that the Touch ID sensor is surprisingly versatile.

Here’s the complete list of body parts My Friend has tested thus far:
Parts that do work:

• Fingers
• Palm of hand
• Big toe
• Index(?) toe
• Pinky toe
• “Palm” of foot
• Nose (very difficult)
• Back of index finger (very difficult)
• Heel of foot (works better than thumb imo)
• Left nipple (right refuses to cooperate)

Parts that do not work:
• Forearm
• Knee (That round bit of your ankle
• Belly
• Earlobes
• Eyelid
• Thigh
• Right and left Testicle
• Tip of Penis (underside)
• Tip of Penis (top side, although it’s

interesting to note that this generated the best results although the results seemed to deteriorate and got more errors as it got flaccid)

A Friend conducted some spot testing with my own iPhone, and I can vouch for the validity of the results on big toe and that round bit of your ankle. HR regulations prevent me from conducting a complete test at my desk.
Interestingly, the fingerprint sensor on a Galaxy S7 doesn’t fare nearly as well. No matter which angle I used, I couldn’t get it to recognise my big toe.

is this a Bug or feature?

Apple might not be Naming the IPhone 7 an IPHONE 7 , See what they might Name it

It’s a tiny bit amusing that despite everything we know about Apple’s upcoming next-generation iPhone, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro, there are still some pretty basic things we don’t know.
We know just about exactly what the iPhone 7 is going to look like, and we also know what the larger iPhone 7 Plus will look like.

We know the phones will lose the 3.5mm audio port and gain thinner housings with redesigned antenna lines that are much easier on the eyes. We also know that both phones will feature new and improved cameras, though the camera on the Plus model will be a much bigger upgrade than the one on the smaller iPhone 7.
But ironically, we still don’t know one of the most basic things about these two upcoming new phones: We have no idea what they’ll be called.

Logic dictates that this year’s new iPhone models will be called the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In the past, Apple has released new iPhone numbers on alternate years with “S” upgrades separating them. Then there have been some rumblings that Apple would switch the name of the larger iPhone from “Plus” to “Pro.” This would align better with Apple’s iPad naming scheme — and “Plus” was always an awful name anyway.

But there have also been some claims that this year’s new iPhones would stray from convention and not be named iPhone 7 at all. Instead, Apple is said to be saving its big redesign for next year’s tenth-anniversary iPhone and potentially keeping 2016’s new iPhones in the iPhone 6 family.

But what would Apple name new iPhones in the same lineup for the second year?
According to a new report from German Apple blog Apfelpage , the new phones will be branded “iPhone 6se.” There’s certainly a logic to the name, which would align with the iPhone 5se Apple launched earlier this year, but it would be a curious move in some ways. Apple already has to deal with the media narrative that this year’s new iPhones represent a “minor” upgrade that is “boring,” so why make the task of convincing fans that this is a big upgrade even more difficult? As we’ve noted, the new iPhones are shaping up to be anything but boring . In fact, they’re shaping up to be pretty massive upgrades — and launching them with new names would help support that idea.

iPhone 7: Apple might be putting a ‘boring’ monster computer in your pocket :Read This

The iPhone 7 will be a monster computer, a new leak shows. There are those iPhone fans who won’t be happy to see the iPhone 6’s design recycled for a third iPhone model but forget about design for a second. The real iPhone features you should always get excited about lie under the hood. It’s a given the iPhone 7 will offer better hardware, and therefore better performance, than its rival, and more leaks seem to prove that. After a leak yesterday said the iPhone 7 might deliver better battery life than ever, a new report shows the first benchmark for the A10 processor that will equip the iPhone 7 models.

Last year’s iPhone “S” generation brought over a massive performance bump. More RAM and a faster, more efficient processor made the iPhone 6s upgrade a no-brainer – if you’ve used both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s you already know how incredibly fast the iPhone 6s feels.

With that in mind, we expect the iPhone 7 to be even faster than the iPhone 6s, and a first benchmark leak for the A10 says the new processor is going to be as fast as the Apple A9X CPU found inside the iPad Pro models. The following leaked Geekbench graphic, obtained by TechTastic, show the evolution of the Apple mobile chip, starting with the A4 and going all the way up to the A10.

In other words, single-clock scores for the Apple A10 top 3000, nearly 500 points more than the Apple A9. We’ll remind you that Apple’s iPhone 6s manages to crush all rivals in real-life tests, even though these competitors sport better specs, at least on paper.

According to a message on Weibo, the A10 processor is a dual-core chip, featuring “invincible” single-core performance.

Created by Apple, the A10 processor is probably going to be mass-produced by TSMC on its 16nm FinFET process. Unfortunately, TSMC doesn’t appear to be ready to mass-produce 10nm-based Apple A* processors just yet, which should be both faster and battery-friendlier than the 16nm A9 inside the iPhone 6s.

Start Saving up some money now: Tim Cook Claims That The Future iPhones Will Have Features You Can’t Live Without(lol)

If you are an Apple fanboy, you should start saving up some money like right now.(lol)

In a
CNBC interview
via Tech Insider , Cook claims that the next-gen iPhones will be so innovative, it will persuade iPhone users to upgrade. In his own words:

“We have great innovation in the
pipeline, like new iPhones that will
incent you and other people that
have iPhones today to upgrade to
new iPhones,” Cook said.

“We are going to give you things that you can’t live without, that you just don’t even know you need today… You will look back and wonder ‘how did I live without this?'”

We all know that Apple has been
standing in the innovation ladder and to what Tim Cooks says:

“We don’t talk about futures as a
company, we are fairly secretive,”
Cook said. “We are incredibly excited about things we are working on, incredibly excited …We have great innovation in the pipeline.”

Yes, talk is cheap, but the last time Cook made similar utterances, Apple had the best fiscal quarter!

Asides from the rumored removal of the headphone jack, what other “great innovation” do you think Apple might bring to the table especially with the iPhone 7.

OMG! See Video of Apple Watch Running Windows 95 OS

It’s been a few years since Microsoft’s desktop operating system, Windows 95, has seen any attention, so what better way to
get eyeballs back on it than to load it onto an Apple Watch ?

If you were born in the late 90s, you probably have no idea what windows 95 means or what it entails. Except you may have done some research on the evolution of the Windows Operating System before now.

Developer Nick Lee has taken the arduous task of putting an ancient desktop operating system on a brand new smartwatch, with
some rather interesting results. The first thing you’ll notice, as noted by The Verge ‘s new gadget-focused site, Circuit Breaker , is that it takes an hour to boot up
completely. The overall result is that Windows 95 on an Apple Watch is slow, but that it’s actually pretty functional.

The video was brought about by Nick Lee who we would say, had enough time in his hands. And of course, that was spectacular of him.

As you may have seen from the video, the User Interface was too small to be termed useful. Although the touchscreen at some point actually worked, we cannot term it as responsive. I mean, for the first few seconds, we could see him struggling to bring out the
start menu.

You may have seen the motor that kept touching the crown on the Apple Watch in the video, that is intended to make the screen not
turn off so that slow response time could be avoided.

You may be wondering how Nick Lee pulled that off. Well, he basically used a WatchKit app and was able to revise thereby allowing him to install the Bochs x86 emulator. NickLee posted some codes on GitHub just in case
you intend creating time to experiment on your Apple watch (Do so at your own risk).

Apple reports first drop in revenue in over a decade now

Incoming Searches: Apple stock price, Apple Share Price, Apple Share, Apple incorporation, Apple Stock Prices, Aapl stock quote, Share price apple, Stock Apple, apple stock prices, Apple stock news.

Apple has reported its earnings for Q2 2016 which runs from the beginning of January to the end of March and as expected, things are
not looking so good in the Apple Share price.

Everything from sales to revenue has gone down. The Apple Incorporation company sold fewer iPhones, iPads and Macs versus both last quarter and the same quarter last year. Meanwhile, Apple made $10.5 billion in profit and $50.6 billion in revenue, compared to $13.6 billion in profit and $58 billion in revenue in Q1 of 2015..

You can see the overall sales report of Apple Share below:

For The Apple Incoporation, this is historic, albeit for the wrong reason as this is the first time Apple’s revenue/ Apple shares and the iPhone sales have declined
significantly compared to the same period a year ago.

According to Tim Cook,

“Our team executed
extremely well in the face of strong
macroeconomic headwinds. We are very happy with the continued strong growth in revenue from Services, thanks to the incredible strength of the Apple ecosystem and our
growing base of over one billion active devices.”

Meanwhile, Apple is also predicting that they would have an even lower revenue in Q3 of 2016 – $41-43 billion.

UPDATE: Just a tiny reminder, despite the
sales report, Apple is still insanely rich and
just to understand how rich they are, see this

Apple Sets to unveils smaller iPhone and iPad Pro

Apple has announced smaller versions of
the iPhone and iPad Pro at an event hosted in San Francisco and streamed online.

The iPhone SE has the same processing and graphics performance of the larger Apple 6S, the firm said, and can capture 4K video.

The new iPad Pro will have a 9.7 inch screen - the same size as the original iPad.
The iPhone SE will be available in 110 countries by the end of May.
With a starting price of $399/$499 (£277/£346), the new iPhone is the "most affordable" handset Apple has ever released, Apple said.

It also said the new iPad Pro would be available in three different storage sizes with an extra large 256GB version.

Pricing will begin at $599 for the smallest version and will ship in the US at the end of the month. Small iPhone

Apple said it sold 30 million four-inch handsets last year, however its handset sales have slowed in recent
M months in line with the overall smartphone market.

Some analysts are predicting up to a 15% decline in shipments in the first quarter of 2016 alone.

"The smart phone market has definitely consolidated around five and six inch devices globally so the question is why has Apple come out with a slightly smaller
version?" said Annette Zimmerman, a research director at analyst Gartner.

"It is not really to capture a trend, but these people who are on an iPhone 4 or 5 and are quite happy with the size.

"It's a way to upgrade them and obviously selling a phone with a smaller screen size helps with the margins on these devices," she added.

"I don't think it will lead to the sort of strong growth we saw after the iPhone 6 came out - that would be really difficult to top."

Specs coming Soon.. Stay tuned!!
