The MTN’s “xtra-byte” and the Glo’s “Borrow-me-data” was first on the Grid Data Manager’s platform as Borrow-me-Data. After the development of Grid Data Manager, the co-founders of Grid Data Manager, Omale Emmanuel, Ajibola Ahmed, Ifeanyi Victor, Nelson Onyenobi and Hassan Olawale tried partnering with the telecoms in Nigeria to drive the borrow-me-data feature but they didn’t reach an agreement with them as the telecoms fear that the core features of Grid Data Manager (data control, app-by-app set data limit and data statistics)  will affect the sales of mobile data as the aim of Grid Data Manger is to give users control over their mobile data, do more with their mobile data, prioritize their applications and ultimately save money on the monthly purchase of mobile data. After the deployment of the first version of Grid Data Manager on Google play store on 12th of October 2016, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Grid Data Manager, Omale Emmanuel, discovered that the Borrow-me-Data feature has been launched by MTN as “Xtra-byte” and Glo as “Borrow-me-data”, he advised the team to remove it from Grid’s platform since they have not signed a partnership deal with the telecoms to drive it.

WhatsApp’s impending support for video calling appears to be closer to launch. According to new reports, the feature is now functional in some of the beta builds of the Android application, following its recent arrival in the Windows Phone version of the Facebook-owned messaging app. The iOS app was also updated just last week, but video calling support was not included at that time.
The arrival of video calling on Android was first spotted by the blog Android Police, which found that some users on the beta builds of the application were able to access video calling through an updated app interface.
For those on a version of WhatsApp which includes video calling support, you’re able to tap the call button or tap on a contact card to kick off a video call. In this case, a new dialog box will appear, offering the choice between a standard voice call and a video call. In addition, the call log will show which calls were made via video by annotating them with the camera icon, instead of the telephone icon.

 

'Video calls are becoming available seemingly at random. You won't need an app update as long as you're on one of the recent beta versions,' the site said. 

Those using the standard version of the app, rather than the Android developer version may still have to wait a while before they can make video calls. 

For those who don't have the updated app, they'll just receive a voice call for now.

Tapping the call button or contact will fire up box with both voice and video options, reports Android Police.  

The update means that WhatsApp is on its way to joining the range of major messaging services that offer video calling, including Microsoft's Skype Google'e new Duo app.

While WhatsApp video calling is available for every yet, it appears to work for those who have installed version 2.16.318, reports AndroidPolice. 

While the function is currently limited to Android, it's likely that it will be available on iOS once WhatsApp has finished testing it.

Pokémon Go hits 100 million installs on Android, made $200 million in its first month

The Poké mon wave continues to wash across the world, with more regional releases in Central and South America, Asia and Oceania in recent days. While the game’s popularity is on the wane in the U.S. , it’s worldwide appeal will last for a long time yet. With each new market, Pok émon Go adds a new spike to its download figures and opens up the potential for a lot more paying players. Poké mon Go has now surpassed 100 million installs in Google Play and reportedly made $200 million in its first month of release.

Making millions daily
To put some of these figures in perspective, we recently reported that Pok é mon Go developer
Niantic is making $10 million per day on the title. Which is not bad at all considering the game’s slow geographical slow rollout.
Now, app analytics firm Sensor Tower is
reporting that Pok é mon Go made $200 million in its first month of availability. As more and more new markets start playing, that monthly revenue figure may continue to grow significantly.



100 million Android installs in a month

Following its launch on July 6, on July 25, Pok émon Go topped 50 million installs on Android and 75 million on iOS and Android combined. One week later on August 2, across both mobile platforms, Pok émon Go topped 100 million installs.

The next 50 million came in half that time. With even more markets opening up that download rate will only continue to accelerate.
While some very large untapped markets remain, in particular India and Africa, some others – including Russia and China – won’t be getting Poké mon Go for some rather comical
reasons . Regardless, the game doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon and will likely earn a billion dollars for Niantic before the end of the year.
